Although rough prices are reportedly still very high, traders are signalling an overall slight softening in prices. Premiums on some DTC boxes – traders have cited as much as 15% on certain boxes - are believed to have been fuelled by speculation which is not sustainable. Demand for cheap rough remains a problem. In the bread and butter segment most manufacturers say they are loosing money. With these factors, traders are expecting premiums on producer boxes to ease during the sales later this month.
