Volatility eases in run up to holidays

With the holiday season approaching, there was a marked decrease in the volatility in the PolishedPrices overall index towards the end of the week.

Weekly Index

The main PolishedPrices index rose by 1.0% over the week, opening at 112.7 points on Monday. The index is currently 10.2% lower than this time last year, and has fallen 5.6% since the start of the year. It is currently 6.3% above the low reached in April.

Amongst the benchmark categories, the largest movements came from the Commercial category, with 0.5 and 0.3 carats showing strong gains of 6.1% and 0.2% respectively. One carats recorded the week's largest loss of 2.5%.
